((OOC: Open to anyone, but I hope you're ready for an adventure. I want this to be an interesting thread. How do you feel about mountain lions?))
Dancer had good stamina so he wasn't tired as I thought he'd be. Shoot, I'd be tired if I had to walk an hour with someone on my back. Gripping his reigns a little too tight in my hands, my paranoia was starting to heighten as my sense of direction seemed to fail me. If I was alone, without Dancer, I would have broken down into a panic attack about ten minutes out of the school court yard. Luckily for me, my good o'l grouchy companion of a horse was with me and didn't mind. He knew what a wreck I was about being alone, so he came without a problem. Plus he wanted to get out of the stable as much as I wanted out f the dorm room.
Sighing loudly, Dancer's ears perked up and I patted his thick neck to reassure him I was fine. He is stubborn and mean, but I know he cares about me. "So why'd we come out here anyway?"[/i] his tail whipping back and forth happily. He asked his question nonchalantly but I knew he was happy. I'm guessing this is the closest he'd ever truly been to freedom. "So Dancer, you were a race horse?" I asked quietly and yet the silent landscaped seemed to echo it.
Dancer stiffened a bit, brayed and continued to walk. I wondered if he was going to answer when he finally did. "I was, but it's not something I try to remember..."[/i] I suddenly felt guilty for asking and I looked out into the distance...ashamed. "Max, don't worry bout it. I'll tell you more about it later if you want. Let's just say I'm glad I found a rider."[/i] I felt a little light of warmth between us and I giggled.
Dancer whinnied and I looked around at the open field we stopped in front of. We'd been traveling in and out of trees when we finally reached our destination. Wide-eyed, my eyes ran over our current surroundings. Without thinking, because if I had I wouldn't have done what I was going to do, I climbed off of a bewildered Dancer and started to run into the beautiful, white blanket of field. With my arms outstretched, small clouds of air coming from my mouth, I laughed wildly as I ran. I stopped to see where Dancer was when I saw him standing in the same spot. "Come on ya silly horse!!" I yelled out to him, my hands cupped around my mouth. I didn't wait to see what he would do so instead I kept running.
I saw the grey ocean ahead of me, out past the overhang of prairie. I breathed in and then tumbled onto the floor. My chest heaving, I laid on my back starring up at the clear blue sky above me. The snow was cold under my jacket and I shivered. I heard loud vibrations off the ground and before I knew it Dancer was standing over head, confusion and irritation in his brown eyes. "You're the strangest human I've ever met."[/i] He snorted in my face as I giggled. He may have seemed annoyed, but he lowered his body to lay next to me. I knew it was strange to see a horse lying down but he was sweet enough to humor me. I could only imagine what he looked like from afar. I big mass of black coal on a frozen, winter landscape. I reached out for him and scratched his snout and he nudged my head admiringly.
"Strange, strange, strange."[/i] his deep voice echoing in my head.

[/i] He would whiny, but the voice clearly coming from his mind. I would mumble my apologies, my mind wrapped up on directions. The landscape was white and so pure. I had decided to follow the board maps to the prairie, unfortunately it took me a good hour on horseback to get here.
The reservation wasn't as far away from the school as I thought. Riding on Dancer anyway. I was getting better, at least I thought I was, and Dancer didn't seem to mind me on his back, except for the rare comments of annoyance that slip out of his muzzle from time again. "Move your feet away from my flanks, I'm starting to chafe kid."
