Unbroken Canter
- Unbroken Canter is a Riding Academy role-playing forum, meaning it's a human and horse RP meaning no birds, dogs, cats, wolves (etc.) can be played (unless involved in site plots). There is no grouping, clans, leaders (besides instructors and competition winners), nothing of that sort.
- Catalpa Academy is for High School and a Four year college. Your character can start at any age =D.
- Students here are taught to hear the thoughts of their horses like they are talking to them. No one else can hear the thoughts of the horses but the trainer themselves.
- Once your character graduates, they can move out of Grantbury and you can delete their account. That is if you wish to no longer play them, bt if you wish to continue after graduation there is a way to do that. There are beautiful apartments where a graduated character can move to if they wish to stay in Grantbury.
Account:
- When it comes time you have to choose a name for your Human character, please check the member list to make sure no one has the first or last name you wish to use, unless your characters are family related (must be approved).
- Your human character must have a first and last name, middle names are not recommended but you may put it in your Display name or your character application. Your horse (that your character chooses) may have any name you wish. Please be appropriate.
- Your username can be anything you prefer, but your display name (that every sees) must be your characters first and last name (and middle name if you wish). Please do not use any symbols and capitalize where the name needs to be.
- When setting up an avatar make sure it is 100x100 or 100x200 not smaller, not bigger. Also your avatar must look like your human character. Eye coloring can be a real pain in the butt so if you have trouble changing the eyes then PM me, I can help.
- Signatures must be your faithful horse companion and beneath it must be a chronological list of threads your character is in. Signatures may not exceed the height and width of 500x400. They can be smaller though. If the signature image is too big it may stretch posts.
- Under your avatar, under your avatar, please post what grade your character is in, their horse, age, and relationship status.
Such as: High School Sophomore| Aggy | 16 | Single - Must be active and log in at least once a week and please post in a thread each week.
Your Character[/u]
- I've seen other forums where there are more then one character to an account, but thats not how it works here. Here there is only one character to an account. Thats it. Meaning One human character and horse companion to an account.
- As you begin to role-play you can later on create more characters (on seperate accounts of course) each number character being obtained in different ways.
- You can create your second character when you've been an active member for one month.
- Your third character can be made if you give 75 points and a fourth is 100.
- After the fourth you can make more but the price is the same, and you must PM me if you wish to make another.
- Other characters can be obtained by relocation and contests held here. - Each new character get to choose a horse, so each account must have a human character and the horse they chose.
- This academy houses High School and College students, and the main focuses of your character must be from the human's point of view.
Posting [role-playing]
- When accepted, it is recommended that your character starts posts in the Whisper stables, choosing a horse. Read the rules when you get there.
- 100 words minimum per post, no less. Please only do this if you are low on time or muse.
- This is an intermediate-advanced RP so decent writing skill is required.
- There is no God-modding, controlling others characters, and power-playing, your character being invincible, ever.
- Bold speech and Italicized thoughts.
- Your character may swear in posts but please do not overuse them. This is an all-ages site and swearing is not that appropriate.
- Write in third or first person while posting, whatever you choose.
- Important!!!
You will not role-play your horse through it's point of view. You will post from your human characters point of view but they will hear the voices of their horses.
Ex.
Looking over the landscape, I breathed in a fresh gasp of air and took my seat on the floor. Soft hoof steps came from behind me and I turned to see my big thoroughbred horse padding his way over, his saddle tilted to the side. "Comet, what are you doimg out of the stables?" I said happily, glad my horse had showed up. Just taking a stroll, and looking for my bum of a trainer who does a louzy job of saddling me up. Have you seen her?

Threads [role-playing]
- Once your character is accepted and you are registered you may be in three threads at once.
- No "text" Speech except in the "texting board".
- Please have a sense of chronological order. One thing happens before the other, please keep thoughts in order. And remember, just because you know something that happened to another character or something about another character doesn’t mean your character does.
- After your month of membership is up, you can then post in five threads. When you make any character after your first, they immediate are able to be in five threads as well.
- Blockquote can be used once or twice in each post you make.
- Please do not change color on the text of your posting.

Fighting[/u]
- Fighting is unavoidable within the human species haha, but keep it to a minimum. Body language is a great way to show dislike.
- Please do not be excessive with blood. Gore is not allowed. A simple nose-bleed will do.
- Weapons....um....lets not ok. Hahaa =D
Deaths
- Death between horses can happen in a matter of ways. Humans aswell, but I prefer no killing. Sickness, accidents.
- Even if tension is inevitable between horses No killing is allowed. Fighting yes! Killing no! Your horse can get severely hurt in a fight but can die later from bloodloss, loss of pride, whatever.
- Having your horse die can happen in one of a few ways.
1. Sickness
2. Old Age
3. Accidents (such as cars, and natural disasters)
4. Badly wounded
Activity [/u]
- Must be active and log in at least once a week and please post in a thread each week.
- If you are unable to reach a computer and will not be able to be very active, please notify me or post in the absentee board.
- Result in not following the rules and harrassing others, banishment will be the next step. Also foul language, etc. (warnings will be issued first.) 3 strikes and you’re out! For a limited time of course, unless you’re a repeated offender.
- But I highly doubt we’ll have any problems like that! XD
OOC
- Please be courteous to other memebers. Just because your character has an issue with another doesn't mean you need to have one against a fellow OOC (Out of Character).
- Please be careful with foul language. It will not be tolerated.
- If you're the type of person to join a forum to harass and bother other members, then this site is not for you.
- If anyone encounters a problem on the site, or another member, please contact me or one of our moderators to help. We will get things all straightened out.
UC IMPORTANT Role-play Information
:Getting Started:
- Starting out in Catalpa Academy, your character may start between high school freshman (very beginning Grade) and College Senior (very last grade in Catalpa). And between ages 14 (rarely if they skipped a grade) and 26 (if they failed a grade due to a variety of situations.)
- When completing your school resume (character application) you have the chance of choosing a roomate. If in high school portion its same gender rooms, in college they change to mix. If you're looking for a roomate and you can't find one but wish to get your applicaton accepted (so you may begin role-playing) I'll let you modify that part later when your quest for a roomate is complete.
- This site is focused around your character (the student) to learn to communicate with their chosen equestrian companion, so in a way it is a horse-whispering RP with a type of "human struggle of life" kind of flare lol.
- So once your application is accepted, please head down to the Whisper Stables and follow the directions on choosing your horse that will be your friend till the end *evil smile*
- Don't forget to stop by and read the Forum General Rules.
:To Whisper:- A main part of this site runs on students learning to and communicating with their chosen horse. For some students it may be difficult but for others it may be completely natural. You choose how it will go with your character.
- Horses thoughts will be bold and italicized and posts can never be in your horses perspective, always your human character's point of view.
- The horses actions must be written in third person like the example given in the Posting [Role-Playing].
- Horse-to-Horse interaction is possible but only under a few circumstances. Your horse must be with the rider and never alone role-play it. Second, your student character must be active in that post, meaning it cannot be just the horses conversing. You cannot have a thread with just the horses talking. Also, again they can be role-played but as if the riders were hearing every word spoken by their horse, meaning third-person when horses being described and first-person for humans.
Relationships and Beyond - A main part of this site runs on students learning to and communicating with their chosen horse. For some students it may be difficult but for others it may be completely natural. You choose how it will go with your character.
- With "mating", I think we'll keep it to the horses. I'm not comfortable just yet with having characters having sex on the forum. So if your horse falls for another, they can mate the "horse Births" board.
- READ If tow human characters wish to "make love," please just insinuate it. No need to bring up details or whatnot. Do not but [M] on titles because there should be no need for it. Just let people assume what happened.
Ex:
Waking up the next morning, a lean body at my side. I brushed his bare chest with my hand and turned to the open window, the breeze letting fresh air into the room. 'A night to remember...' I thought with content.
Get it!! - Relationships can spark, no doubt about it, just remember though just because your character falls for another member's character doesn't mean you would too. Writers can put different personalities in characters so don't think that that member is like their character. Be ware, ok =]
- Rape is not allowed at all. Even if both members agree. If this happens, both members will be banned. No toleration. They can try and hassle each other, but rape should not succeed.
- After breeding your horses, it will take up to a month or so for the birth of a colt to be born.
- If you wish for your human character to have a child, please make sure to PM me and make sure it is ok with the other member who contributed to the "birth." I'd appreciate it if the members were at least older then 18 and have a plan of action.
Other Pets[/u]
- Catalpa Academy allows personal pets into the dorms but they cannot exceed the limit. Only small animals such as small dogs, small birds, small reptiles, etc. are allowed and only one per student.
